Before we repeat what's already been said by 1000's of Soul fans through the decades about this iconic recording that sits in the imaginary Northern Soul Hall Of Fame?

Can we add anything... to the endless drooling judgments passed on this Northern Soul totem over the last 50 years...maybe not.

Other than, no other intro sparks dancefloor-euphoria today, at the same intensity as it did 50 years ago. It is a NS love affair of 5 decades, with no signs of its soon to be Golden Anniversary fading the love we all have for this anthem.

Me, just like 1000's of other teenagers in 1972 were baptized to a life of FB worship... that still at the right time, at the right club. Triggers the boy in me back onto the dancefloor..

Back in the day, long after The Torch, The Cats, Wigan Casino were just paling memories, I was selling vinyl at Southport Weekender. Circa 1992 the weekender that Richard Searling "broke" the Almeta Lattimore - Those Memories - a record that caused a sensation when debuted by him. But that was nothing to the affect triggered when late on in the Saturday night, dominated by seriously rare Modern Soul. Mister Richard Searling with his uncanny sense of perfect timing, instigated a short unannounced interlude of Northern Soul greats, completely against the soulful flow of modern-jewels ... dropping Frank Beverly's into the mix, the effect was cataclysmic dancefloor mayhem as that enticing soft tambourine was smashed aside by a barrage of bruital brass punched the air "Since I've Been With You Darlin'... "

and I'm in an adrenaline rush...the rush turned into a torrent, I vaulted my stall, a short canter to the dancefloor, and I was already too late, space was taken, i had to find a little wriggle room as the place erupted to handpicked "Searling-succulents"

The right time, the right DJ, the right place.. no other NS record on planet earth, triggers stronger euphoric-recall than Frankie..
dropping a nice clean copy onto my turntable in 2021, catapults me back to every Northern Soul club I've ever visited ...
