Go on admit it, how many serious Northern Soul collectors at some time during their development have, like me; dreamed and wondered what this all-time top 10 Northern Soul anthem, would have felt like, holding it as a British 45 release? It would have been on "Action" of course, if it ever received a UK release. Heaven forbid, I'd faint if I could hold a copy on an English label.

This 1968 very limited Greek press is the nearest we could ever get to replicating that 7" daydream. The 4 prong die-cut centre, anti-slip grips around the perimeter of the Mediterranean turquoise blue label. The high fidelity vinyl, is just as tactile as our beloved Columbia or a Parlophone releases. This 1968 Greek Top Tunes 45 still housed in the company sleeve.. is some breathtaking sight indeed.

A most-extreme way to own and DJ this most-desirable of Northern Soul anthems.

If only as a teenager instead of procuring acetates of the top tunes at the weekend and I'd have taken my girlfriend to Athens instead of Newquay, for our holidays. I may have come home with a copy of Frank Beverly! I was lucky enough some years later to return from Corfu with a Dee Dee Sharp - What Kind Of Lady and a 4 prong centre Rocky Roberts - Just Because Of You - on orange & white Greek Durium. But never in my wildest dreams a Frankie Beverly complete with the coveted b-side - L O V E ( Your Pain Goes Deep ) - the with STRINGS mix! That would have knocked Trevor Hurd off his Frank Beverly "exclusive" perch.

All those dreams were when I was 18 years of age, now nearly 50 years on, this immortal NS masterpiece has again fired up my imagination of what a little more adventure might have brought me...I would certainly have been the toast of Kirby Lane, Youth Club, Melton Mowbray dropping this beauty on the turntables.

But surely Frank Beverly was responsible for more than just dreams; the reality is, it inspired and totally diverted 1000's of teenagers away from humdrum UK pop music, onto a course of Northern Soul dedication.

"Since I've Been With You Darlin', I've Been Walkin' Into Closed Doors..." still lifts the hairs on my neck, nearly as much as this vision of beauty did today, when it landed on my desk..

Condition Report

Two clean labels, no writing, stains, stickers or tears. 4 prong centre intact (a huge bonus). Full gloss vinyl reveals only the faintest of sleeve storage hairlines ell angled in the light.
