1966 "Beverley Ice Cream Parlor" blank presenting "Better Get Right! b/w Ameletia" a Leslie Kong production.

The famous Beverley Record label released records between 1961 and 1971, owned by the record producer Leslie Kong until his premature death in 1971.

During those 10 years Beverley's developed into a cornerstone for the development of ska and rocksteady into reggae ridimng the crest of the 1968 / 71 wave. Launching the careers of Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley, having released Cliff's first recording "Dearest Beverley" in 1961 and Marley's early singles "Judge Not" and "One Cup of Coffee" in 1962.

This Franc Cosmo disc is one this iconic label's real rarities.

With only the " Ameletia" side achieving a UK release, but that was miscredited to the "Housewife's Choice" duo Derrick Morgan, Patsy Todd on Island Records WI-289





Condition Report

"Better Get Right!" label just has a faint X B in pencil as an identifier. Whilst "Ameletia" carries a rubberstamp of the Beverley Ice Cream Parlour - with BETTER GET RIGHT written in fine ballpoint. Marker pen 7/6 indicating the sale price in 1966. The vinyl on "Better Get Right!" is remarkably clean a strong player, at excellent plus, whilst "Ameletia" has an area of scuffing that triggers as soft crackle on the revolution. Listen to the double soundfile for a clear representation of the playback - Better Get Right! is Ex+ / Ameletia is g+
