Description

Description

Now here's a fabulous slice of Louisiana Modern Soul, a beauty that seems to have evaporated from view - causing real demand to spark back up again.

A 1980 George Perkins project, all the better for his seasoned vocal leading the way through is inspirational dancer. Driving guitar dance pulses supported by a gospel schooled mixed choir; adding the glue that's to brings it all together. Strings, horns, keyboard and the soon to enter saxophonist who takes the session to yet another level. Skyward it flies, with that screaming display of saxophone the perfect addition to this already spine-tingling outburst of modern Soul dance.

A TUNE!

The flipside goes in a totally different direction, inspired by George's most famous recording "Crying In The Streets". Politically minded George crafts another Deep Soul ballad, that ironically never foresaw the terrible events that would unfold at the century's end. As George displays sympathy for the people of Iran the war with Iraq was just breaking out. and all the consequences that it triggered.

The a-side is such a great tune, that is starting once again to find its way onto the turntables of discerning DJs at selective venues, especially those freestyle sessions broadcasts from home in lockdown.
