Description

Description

A flawless promo copy, of one of the RARE later released Tamla Motown Green & White demos.

Why this promo should be so much rarer than any other 45 in the 800 series is something of a mystery but a casual google will confirm this classic "Wheel" spin is certainly no easy find!

EMI had a double flurry of pandering the British allnighter Soul scene of the early 70's reissuing Gladys Knight's "Just Walk In My Shoes" just one number before this popular instrumental; making it a double nod to the Soul Club DJ. Although "Just Walk In My Shies" went on to sell in numbers, this Earl Van Dyke 45 didn't. The stock copy is surprisingly uncommon, with the promo decidedly elusive.

From my very first all-nighter experience "The Magic Lantern" in Market Harborough, this tune was the one play that stuck in my mind. As I was agog watching the dancing acrobatics to the only record I'd was vaguely familiar with...Well, the vocal I was,I'd certainly never ever heard or even imagined there was an instrumental version. The DJ there of course played it from it's USA Soul release... but those visions of ludicrously high backdrops and the dizziness triggered within me, watching guys spin round on the same spot, for more turns than I could count, was frankly mind-blowing for this recent school-leaver.

TMG 814 as an eye-catching "Green & White" most collectors do not own, and annoying gap in even the most dedicated Tamla Motown collector. with the condition passing even the most fastidious of test, you can expect a little competition for ownership.
