Jamaica does Soul!

In fact Jamaica delivers strong Northern Soul, as Derrick Harriott revamps the Curtis Mayfield composition that became a local Chicago hit for Jan Bradley in 1963. Even though The Fascination recorded it first in 1962.

Originally recorded the same year in Kingston, Jamaica with the Audley Williams Combo brilliantly backing up Derrick's Soulful tones. Producing not one but two strong Soul recordings.
The top side showcases the 24 year old artist's searing falsetto style, cradled by shrill girl-group choruses, delivered at a slightly faster pace than the original making it an ideal MOD/CLUB Soul drop. But I can't ever recollect hearing this tune played out anywhere, over the years, so did this release sail under the eye of the Twisted Wheel era completely? Today this would be a wonderful surprise drop for the investigative MOD DJ.

Do not overlook the flipside, a unique Derrick Harriott composition, a more than powerful Jamaican Deep Soul ballad. Listen to soaring Deep Soul, far too good to be dismissed. Making this 45 a fabulous double helping of Jamaican Soul that has so far , it seems to have not caught the attention of serious British 45 collectors. It's extreme qualities, have long needed to be documented and brought British collectors attention.

Noting, this copy is in spectacular flawless condition. The gorgeous vista of a Red & White of Island beckons you again...
