A wonderful example of SKA diversion into other songs & familiar rhythms, as Dandy writes and conducts a glorious brass saturated instrumental shimmering with triumphant trumpets, squealing saxophone and relentless piano notes underpinning the heavy-weight horns.

Addictive, uplifting and joyous, a moody but simplistic example of SKA influenced Rock Steady that burrows its way under your skin. .

On the flipside (the original A-side) the talented Robert Livingstone Thompson, "Dandy" for short, reworks Amos Milburn's 1953 classic R&B swingin' dance groove "One Scotch, One Burbon, One Beer". Amos Milburn had the aid of his brilliantly named Aladdin Chickenshackers to make that original take an unforgettable toe-tapper. On this 14 year later revamp Dandy had just his untitled "Group" but retains it's bluesy characteristics with a sparse arrangement with a drummer and a pianist he really makes his rendition works, as he swerves away from Rock Steady in Black Jazz /R&B, a rare one on this most collectable label.

Two totally contrasting recordings, both sides tweak my appetite for inventive Jamaican jams crammed full of slick musicianship.
