Description

Description

This green & white delight would be MANSHIP MINTS FOR CHRISTMAS, if it wasn't for the forensic inspection finding just a couple of soft blemishes when angled in the light, two MINT promo labels, housed in birth-sleeve. As good as it gets condition.

5th of May 1967 UK Tamla Motown DEMO in impossibly fine condition. A much-loved Tamla Motown Northern Soul classic, another standout tune from the so underrated partnership of James Dean and William Weatherspoon. Who crafted sessions like Frances Nero - Keep On Loving Me, Edwin Starr - If My Heart Could Tell The Story, Jimmy Ruffin - What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted immediately jump to mind as enduring British Soul Club and Northern Soul favourites. All taking a softer approach to the Motown Sound, all drenched in classy moments that make them standout experiences. Stanley McMullen stepping in on the a-side with some additional lyrical inspiration, just like he did on Edwin Starr's - My Weakness Is You - another timeless Northern Soul Motown anthem.

"It's So Hard Being a Loser" is an inspirational full voiced production, brilliant lines "To overcome this heartache inside and find happiness someday" "I walk in silent solitude, shattered dreams never came true, I walk in silent solitude, Many nights I cried, unsatisfied" underlines again their easy flow of saddened words, that litter this pairs creations.

Sadly this 45 failed to sell in any significant number both in the UK and the USA. it was to be The Contours last 45 release for Motown, even though both sides shimmer with the everything, that today we adore about the Hitsville production.

An highly esteemed Motown Northern Soul classic - in by far its most-wanted format.
