The much rarer and original press and version of a song so ably covered by Emanuel Laskey, this is Detroit Soulful dance at it's very finest.

Note this is it's first neighbourhood incarnation of the 45, with no mention of "Detroit" on the label, just the street number and street address.

A stunning recording that Milton wrote himself, telling the story of family struggle, pride and determination. The wonderfully descriptive lyrics are cradled by swirling synth, a fanfare of lush horns; delivered by a persuasive vocal supported by a razored girl-group chorus response. A searing slab of late 70's dance Soul.

So what happened to Clyde Milton? For us it's a complete mystery, as surely a man with such an impressive voice and the gift to conjure up poetic lyrics like "I'd Rather Leave On My Feet, Than Live On My Knees" couldn't have just had this singular release, then vanish into Motor City music wilderness.

This tune is top-drawer, a rare mix a poignant lyrics embroidered into a fabulous dance arrangement, elusive, under-played and memorable..
