1977 previously unplayed PROMO copy, rescued from decades of isolation hidden away in cobwebbed corner of the warehouse.

This is the group's 2nd 45 the follow up to "White Riot" lifted from their debut album. A little "softer" than "White Riot" as CBS tried to control the group from crossing the boundaries of decency. But actually setting the tone, with their hard hitting aggressive approach to social comment. Along with their fabled on stage performances Their first two CBS singles were in part responsible the countrywide Punk explosion of the late seventies; when The Damned, The Sex Pistols and The Clash led the charge for Punk to evolve from an underground pleasure into a full blown music-movement.

To find an unplayed DEMO copy of this recording in 2019 is a rare event indeed, but an opportunity to look into Britain's huge contribution to the Punk explosion during the late 70's and early 80's. The Clash with Joe Strummer's belligerent vocal style, complimented on all sides by the talent of Mick Jones & Paul Simonon.

This 1977 PROMO is a wonderful historic pointer back to the halcyon beginnings of Brit-Punk and how the major labels tried unsuccessfully to control it.

Condition Report

Vinyl was previously unplayed, vinyl does reveal some very fine sleeve storage hairlines under direct light. Both promo labels are unblemished, light age dulling to the white background (see images) We do not ever expect to se a finer example
