Description

Immaculate and unicorn RARE - beyond rare in this archive condition. !

A proper rarity for proper collectors of real-deal British "impossibles" in the finest possible condition.

Erroneously credited to Robert Crowder, Earl Hines & Billy Eckstine as the writers, that trio's "Stormy Monday" was a completely different song, a 40's Jazz/Blues classic. The correct credit should have gone to the 1947 Blues grind by T-Bone Walker which Chris does a sulking deconstruction of. Given a reworking by the moonlighting Chris Farlowe, that Chris Blackwell and Guy Stevens sneaked out on a 45rpm release in August 1965 under the pseudonym of Philadelphia Soulman "Little Joe Cook" on Sue WI 385. Presumably to avoid any lingering contractual commitments the group may have had to their recently departed Columbia Records (EMI) or his new record label Immediate (Decca).

Being backed by the legendary guitarist Albert Lee and renowned keyboard player Dave Greenslade, Chris sets about rolling out a 6 minute 20 second version of T-Bone's brilliant lyrics. With Albert Lee's crying guitar creating the perfect blues-mood backdrop. Dave Greenslade Hammond caressing enriches the plot, creating the very finest British contribution to the Blues.

Flip it over Chris's own composition "She's Alright" rattles out a killer stomping keyboard saturated dance session a serious R&B dancer featuring a fabulous "Lee" guitar break. Then on track 3, Farlowe ratchets up Lavern Baker's "Voodoo" into an R&B torrent.

Every track a winner, in 2021 it is totally remarkable to be able to offer a copy, at this level of unblemished condition.

One for the condition conscious Brit collectors who recognize an unrepeatable window of opportunity when they see one.
