Just imagine the adrenaline rush that "Butch" must have experienced when he found a white label test press whilst rummaging through a stash of 45's that Billy Jackson and squirreled away and forgotten about,

As he played it, he must have thought he'd struck gold, with a Yvonne Baker - You Didn't Say A Word - test press... Then a few seconds later... OMG! it's a male-vocal with different words!

Those sort of moments of distilled ecstasy is why so many of us travelled to the USA to dig for 45's. To possibly find "Tutankhamun" level Northern Soul records, Butch had done it before when he discovered "The Mellow Souls". A feeling record dealers of today trawling the internet for their thrills will never experience. Digging in the "wild" has given those old-school Northern Soul pioneers experiences that will stay with them all their lives. Then carried forward into Northern Soul folklore. During the 70's, 80's, 90's traveling from USA city to city in search of NS Gold was the greatest experience any young Brit could ever have had.

Butch discovering "The Chesterfields" is a Brit "digging" legend. So listen now, try to image what emotions ran through his body, when the stylus hit the grooves of a white label test press. I've had a few similar "happenings" with the first Don Gardner for £3 from Soul Bowl or playing the first Larry Clinton in a pot-head's kitchen in Florida trying not to breath in the eye stinging "purple haze" than hung over his portable record player. Thinking "sounds like Edwin Starr, Soul Sam will buy this".

This your only chance to own a piece of this Northern Soul saga, a superbly mastered "Think It Over" the male vocal to "You Didn't Say A Word" what a moment in Northern Soul history. That Grapevine biefly relesed with some p[romo copies dispersed between the UK DJs nearly 20 years ago.

I'm betting it was a beautiful hot day and Butch went and celebrated with an ice cold beer...
