Unissued British 1967 promo only version of Maxine Brown's anthem, written by the prolific New Yorker Rudy Clark

The Chapter Five were actually EIGHT Barrow In Furness musicians with high hopes for their R&B influenced recording, both of their two 45's for CBS are highly regarded Northern Soul dancers. On this "One In A Million" you can appreciate this gatherings power as they deliver serve up an intro of trembling bass-guitar pulses, hard blown horns including a baritone sax, relentless percussion with well timed vibes and triangle rings, aerial backing vocals enrich the landscape... you've got to applaud this version. The young band of North-Westerners spilling over with Soulful intentions.

The Flipside is haunting British soul/garage with Dave McGrerty's swirling keyboards pulling you into his sulking mood.

Comes with an aged white card cover autographed by organist Dave McGerty and drummer Tony Flanagan.

A proper British collector 45 - promo only of course!

Condition Report

Two clean promo labels, no writing stickers or tears, there is some minuscule age foxing, minute and not detracting from its promo gorgeousness
