Carol Hunt - Oh Tommy / Oh Baby Please - Teron T-782
Very rare 1964 Los Angeles girl "Teener", from this one single only singer who wrote both sides as a "vanity" project for Ronald Solovay & Terry Dunavan full service from pen to vinyl to release and even a recording contract Ron & Terry did "da woiks" at Teron Records, 6272 De Longpre Avenue, Hollywood, California 90028.
Aspiring California recording artists were looked after in every possible way - but at a cost we imagine.
The entrepreneurial Rod Keith was one of Teron's very first customers, who tried "Teron" out in 1964, then went and launched a very similar project at "Preview" Records just a 4 minute walk north, up Vine Street crossing over Sunset Boulevard & Hollywood Boulevard traveling through the Hollywood "Walk Of Fame" along the way. Surely these hopefuls were dreaming to end up with their name on that pavement, one day perhaps. After-all it was a start... perhaps even a launching pad for a career in show-business.
Rod Keith, Susie Atkins, The Samurais, Mildred Harrison, Robert Lavalle, Robert Lavalle, Natalie Dale, Wes Boice, Bill Pape,The Four Queens, and of course label owners Terry & Ron even released a record on their own label. With only one obscure artist Gil Anthony releasing one another disc released outside of their Teron contract.
None of the above artists came back for another release with "Teron" ours is not to reason why? But we do feel there are many more buoyant participants that had their dreams dashed with lack of promotion, and no airplay from DJs. and finding themselves probably tied up in a contract.
The above story we find kinda sad, as Carol Hunt was a talented girl vocalist and composer, as her 45 proves to be an accomplished young girl "Teener" that the girl-sound collectors are unlikely to own, but want.
All the Teron 45s are rare, for obvious reasons, vanity releases, that many of them remain undocumented today... we hope Carol achieved some success in her quest.. surely a movie could be made covering her journey of hope and disappoint.
Ron Solovay is the ‘Ron’ in TeRON: the TE was his business partner (at that time) Terry Dunavan.
Condition Report
Two perfect typically bright pink L.A. labels, full gloss archive previously unplayed vinyl, still housed in its birth-sleeve. As fine a copy you could ever dream of seeing. Unless Carol treasured her copy and kept it unplayed and pristine.A Side
