New Yorker Patrick Adams would throughout the 70s & 80s craft more standout modern Soul rarities than most any other musician in his field. Here is one of his very early compositions where he gives up, two killer Northern Soul recordings to an "unknown" girl gathering blessed with ear piercing voices.

Teaming up with the prolific Bobby Robinson, the 20 year old gave Bobby the ideal girl group material to produce two searing Northern Soul dancers.

Bobby Robinson first tested this recording locally, on his own BR label. But soon Capitol picked up this "far too good" for an indie only release. First off, it was promo'd by Capitol credited to the "Corletts" but issued with the correct artist credit "The Carletts" This remains the girls only 45 release, no doubt both Patrick Adams & Bobby Robinson utilized their extreme talent on later recordings. If anyone knows who these girls morphed into or who they were previously, please let me know.

The problem I have with this 45, is which side I prefer whilst "I'm Getting Tired" is a total high-octane Northern Soul dancer. A relentless storm of backdrop inducing moments, delivered by dentist-drill vocals, that somehow fuse into a torrent of slick harmony; as the ladies hanging on for dear life to a foot-to-the-floor horn-driven BR production.

We lead with a little more sophistication, hidden on the previously neglected flip. Again the superior Patrick Adams way with words comes through, on a wave of horns and backing choruses; before that beseeching lady approaches the microphone. Her imploring delivery instantly grabs your heart, there's not too many 70s Soul Sister leads as convincing as this one. Then Bobby Robinson gifts the arrangement with a killer horn break..awesome.

Two sides to die-for, whether classic style Northern Soul or subtle mid-paced jewels are your bag. This 45 gives up BOTH!

Surely "Lost Without Your Love" warrants another visit to those Rare & underplayed gatherings, that are opening our eyes & hearts to tunes we've previously neglected..
Or if traditional heart-stopping Northern Soul is your DJ mode "I'm Getting Tired" is classic style NS, at its most exhilarating.

Surely this head-turning inspiration "surprise" drop to your public, is long overdue..
