An overlooked and highly elusive 1960 UK Demo of the Bobbettes New York reworking of The Dominoes 1952 R&B rocker on Federal.

These five ladies shot to success, when their debut single about a crush on their school teacher "Mr. Lee" became an R&B # 1 and a top 10 Billboard success. After that initial rocketing to fame, their impact for Atlantic Records diminished with each release, until they moved across town to Teddy Vann's newly established Triple X label. Where they had two releases. This was their 2nd. unfortunately also a non-hit but attracting interest by UK Decca who remembered their success with "Mr Lee".

In the UK this 45 never left the starting block and is now considered very rare indeed. Whether it be the elusive stock copy or this super-rare orange Demo; this record is an under-the-radar R&B tittyshaker, blessed with the snarling "Big Mama Thornton" inspired sister growl from Laura Webb? Backed up by a fully charged sister backing from Emma & Jannie Prought, Helen Gathers & Reather Dixon.

Girl group R&B at it's most intrusive, a least known

The flipside adds weight to it's desirability with a nearly as imposing R&B shaker featuring a killer sax-break..

Condition Report

Two flawless labels, unblemished full gloss vinyl, a stunning copy.
