In the year the world lost the greatest ever Soul Sister, how poignant to look back 49 years and see Aretha Franklin adorning the front cover of September 1969 Blues & Soul. Just as much loved then as she was in 2018. Issue #22 has so much more than just the historical front cover.

Not one but two Dave Godin columns, both as controversial as ever as he destroys the lyrics of The Temptations "Cloud Nine"

In memory of Shorty Long who died in a boating accident, Godin laments what might have been. A stunning picture of Shorty accompanies the obituary.
In memory of Roy Hamilton who died from a stroke at the tender age of 40, image what his recording output would have grown to had he lived into old-age.

Centerfold is an essential pose from The Dells.

Full page picture of The Drifters, other small black & white's include. Jerry Butler, Temptations & David Ruffin.

Inc: 8 page ON DISC soul vinyl release supplement, which is usually "lost" discarded long ago.

I'm always enthralled by these early magazine, reflecting on attitudes of the day, but on this occasion I can't help but wonder the obituary Dave Godin would have written on the sad passing of The Queen Of Soul..
