Description

Description

In our experience all the first 10 issues are easily the hardest copies to acquire.

Before you today is seldom seen May 1968 Blues & Soul edition no. 8 in the series. In beautiful clean condition.

Full of fascinating rarely documented bios and photos on artists like super-star Aretha Franklin. Also the lesser known performers like Chicago Soul man Harold Burrage who died at the tender age of 38 in 1967. President had just released his second only British outing. Jackie Ross in Full Bloom review of her album. Robert Knight photo supporting his "Everlasting Love" original, a hit with the MODS as they ignored "The Love Affair's" blatant plagiarism.

Two pages of SKA NEWS inc: as wonderful full page add for two albums on Coxsone & Island. Plus the usual fascinating array of artist pics and bios include. Plus more of the much loved Record Company adverts - I particularly love the SOUL CITY full page advert for Bessie Banks "Go Now". A Also Bell records support for Delfonics with a full page artist pic.

Plus of course the controversial thoughts of Dave Godin so eloquently persuasive on his two page column entitled this month as "What Is Soul" ,

Full page of new singles review, again a full page review of Bell persistent support of Soul music with full 12 45's they distributed in the USA and UK reviewed.

Full back page spread of EMI album releases.

As always not only essential reading and preservation of our history and culture, but also many undocumented reference points. .
