Just Too much FUNK!

Created Billy Guy, who for over 18 years was an integral part of New York R&B hit-makers "The Coasters". As a writer, singer, co-producer, a driving force among the four members, joined from opposite coasts. Global success was achieved when the Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller started to compose songs for them. Their longevity made them one of the most successful black-group of their time.

Billy was some composer himself, upon leaving the east coast circa 1974 Billy hooked up with Stevie Wonders producer Clarence Pauling the pair collaborating to create this superior wailing Deep Funk instrumental. Blessed with hanging horns, swishing cymbals, potent bass guitar pulses, all meld into one driving force, of intricate solid-funk! Those hard-blown horns, nasty guitar picking, achieve cutting edge early 70's brick-wall funk. Attitude saturated plectrum work, squealing saxophone, menacing trumpeting bring the muscle to this jazzy dance experience.

Clarence Paul offers all his "Motown" know-how of conducting the soul-orchestra, pulling out cutting Funk moments of class.

Flip it over and Billy goes it alone in this pre-disco offering "You Move Me" that did receive Northern Soul attention in the late seventies. Listen to this more Soulful, less Deep Funk groove with tons of potential today's rare-soul DJ's.

Two great sides, one highly elusive disc.
