Description

Bill Harris goes full circle!!

The genius of Van McCoy once again, a man who has captivated the British Northern Soul community for decades, and we are still not tired of hearing his spellbinding productions.

The same year that Van McCoy took the world by a storm with the disco smash "The Hustle", he was still enabling sessions saturated in Soul, inviting dance, but with no hint of any Disco cliches. Nothing to spoil the pure flow of zipping strings, prompting restrained girl group choruses. McCoy was always the master of the simplistic hook that pulls you into an addictive rhythm; his beckoning one finger piano pulse blended with stalking "Rattlesnake" cabasa shakes, yield to considerate horns soon harnessing scything strings. The perfect "McCoy" raft for Bill Harris's rich questioning vocal to satisfy his curiosity "Am I Cold, Am I Hot " ... the perfect Northern Soul 70s dance experience is about to unfold and build to memorable crescendo.

What is it about Van McCoy's productions that leave them fresh, inspiring and always a pleasure to return to..? Whatever it is, it has him heralded as a Northern Soul legend of the standout, unforgettable Soul dance recordings.

Since first breaking through into Northern Soul circles as a new release at Blackpool Mecca, Cleethorpes Pier etc., still goin' strong into the mid-80's with Adam Buchanan championing its charms at "The Oddfellows" niter in Leicester, then the top-tune at all and every scooter rally. The late 90's saw it as a top "oldie" spin, that brought "Soul Essence" weekender into late Saturday night raptures, as previous decades were relived on that cosy dancefloor with arm-raised, full throated sing-a-longs. Today, its appeal has never diminished a jot...

Brilliant dancefloor magic every time it is dropped... no matter where or when.. with "Adam" still blasting out its irresistible magnetism at 21st century "Benn Hall" Rugby niters...
