Description

Description

Extremely obscure 1978 upstate New York private press Boogie / Disco dancer, inspired and guided by the prolific Mark Barkan in Albany, New York. This copy comes complete with the original picture cover which we have never encountered before.

Standy Records, a local Rensselaer area, New York independent 70s label releasing various local private recordings, this is, we imagine is Biff Williams' only 45.. aimed at the "disco" phenomena sweeping the East Coast at the time. Benefitting from Mark Barken's "Big City" grounding with Ritchie Adams, Lesley Gore, Manfred Mann, Connie Francis etc. Barkan was no strangers to amplifying a production with muscular brass. This time starting with triumphant horns, laced with wah-wah guitar dance pulses, decorated with squealing saxophone and an impressive hard-blown break a sax-solo of determined power.

Highly regarded totally obscure Boogie-groove that seldom surfaces for sale.

Especially with the ultra rare picture cover.

Condition Report

Two clean pink labels, strong gloss on vinyl, reveals only as few soft surface hairlines, both sides play clean. Picture cover has a tiny scar tear on "AD" of the front cover (see images).
