A project of the talent Jazz pianist Max Harris, a man who has made his reputation for memorable TV scores, especially that crazy Anthony Newley series "The Strange World of Gurney Slade" today considered a cult program a a window into urban life of 60's England.

But for the UK "Soul" collector it is held dear, as an early Soul club spin that eventually graced those hallowed turntables of Wigan Casino by the hand of Richard Searling who still occasionally delves into his archives, giving it a welcome radio show airing. and what an educated choice it is, as this recording was a UK only release, in need of timely exposures to remind us of our vinyl-addictive forays into town in the hope of find a copy. Of this whispered UK instrumental delight.

Max kicks of proceedings with a deceiving solo tinkle on the ivories, then the background horns creep in, becoming louder and louder, swirling strings start cutting the air and the jazzy-journey into MOD begins.. It's so typically British evoking visions of Bowler hatted, pinstripe suited, intrepid undercover government inspectors on a mission to do good against the tyranny hidden in London's streets..

SO BRITISH so very rare and full marks to Mr. Searling for keeping these rarities in the Northern Soul public eye, reminding us of our inventive past and the endeavor it took to unearth these weird and wonderful tunes..

A listing for the British collector who really knows his stuff...

UK collectors, crate-digging scholars of many decades will confirm as this BLACK stock copy it is many, many times rarer tan the pink & silver promo. In the last 25 years this is the ONLY stock copy we have ever had..
