Description

Description

Kingston, Jamaica does Philadelphia, pa.

The talented Alton Ellis takes Jerry Butler's soulful mid tempo and stamps his own style into what is a mighty fine piece of Northern Soul crossover dance to begin with. Also recorded by Soul Diva Lorraine Ellison so it hard to compare two Soul giants with a deconstructed version in a different musical genre.

Well not that different actually, has this hits more that just the "Jamaican " style, as Elton Ellis's expressive vocal, is very soulful. His production brings is beautiful vocal group backing choruses, both girls and make responses enrich this session. UI can easily see being played at the more discerning Soul Events, especially Carib Soul, Dig Deeper, Feed Your Soul would all be pleased to hear this Reggae/Soul crossover delight.

A quite exceptional cocktail of Soul / Reggae benefiting from silky vocals, not only from the lead but also from the background arrangement.. Jerry and Lorraine watch there's another version about to steal your thunder.

So hard to acquire in acceptable condition.

Condition Report

notes on both, otherwise clean labels, vinyl is uncommonly excellent. Just a few very fine hairlines detected under direct light. As you can hear it plays beautifull
