Crazy About Crossover, here is a beyond-rare Latino harmony killer for you to salivate over..

A wonderful slice of very RARE 1970 Lou Ragland wizardry, a Cleveland indie production, crafting NS vocal group Crossover at its most delicious.

7 man excellence from the trusty desk of Cleveland's most talented. Lou Ragland, a man who has pleasured the Northern Soul scene for over 5 decades. With various high quality dance creations, we consider this elusive disc his rarest and best of all his associated 45s.

Both sides written by Pepe Rivera, so carefully “Ragland” constructed, it matters not which side you drop the arm on...

“Listen People" is a captivating string-drenched mid-tempo dancefloor cruise, led by a soaring-lead vocal of Willie Marquez, supported by 6 Latino teen backing vocals enriching the landscape, crammed spiralling strings lifting the song up and away’ with each string section partition triggering a spine-chill of delight. Layer upon layer of soulfulness is added as Lou Ragland brilliantly injects considerate soft-blown horns for the final decoration of this uplifting song, from the streets.

Flip it over Lou still calls on the same ingredients, but gets a little funkier. With Jose Crespo pumping in a dance heavy bass-line and the horns this time marshalling the way, funky vibes start to spill over, with the harmony vocals determined to keep it Soulful. A restrained wah-wah guitar is called upon to keep the funky direction going; producing an unusual but highly effective funky-edged dancer, as the two forces collide. Whilst still showcasing fabulously tight vocals, that win the day.

Two great sides, underlining once again Lou Ragland's influence upon the street-soul of Cleveland, Ohio.

RARE in the extreme... and such a cool double
