O'jays

I Dig Your Act / I'll Be Sweeter Tomorrow (than I Was Yesterday)

The real deal “classics” that laid the cornerstones of the British Northern Soul scene, in the form they first hit the turntables of iconic Clubs like the Twisted Wheel, King Mojo, Nite Owl, Chatteuax Impney etc. at the early development of Northern Soul in the year 2017 are decidedly hard to acquire.

So when a old-MOD collection surfaces littered with the 60’s Soul 45s he ordered directly firm his local Record Shop and still remain in treasure then stored condition. Expect a few “Top-Classics” on UK releases to be auctioned throughout this year; because of their stand-out conditions.

This 1967 New York session with George Kerr gave Northern Soul a timeless, much-loved classic. Whilst also giving real-Soul fans one of the finest Soul Harmony ballads on the flipside to relish.

Condition, Condition, Condition! The most important factor when you’re securing the British anthems that never diminish in stature as the years roll by.

Curly Moore

You Don't Mean

The Rarest and Finest Northern Soul recording on this highly-regarded New Orleans vehicle for superior Back Music. The musical-marriage of Allen Toussaint and Marshall Seahorn was made in Soul Heaven, this session with the under-recorded Curley Moore, is the 3rd of just 4 singles he cut for Toussaint / Seahorn. But he invariably injected, convincing angst and desire into his sadly, too few releases.

Click the soundfile to unleash convincing Crescent City 1967 dance Soul, that ironically is also the label’s hardest disc to acquire, maybe because the “great” side we all love, started life as a passed-over flip side.

This copy, has a few mild surface hairlines, but as you are about to witness, it plays loud, clean and true. Both labels are unblemished.

How cool would it be for this to be featured into the “thinking” DJ’s revival, as the huge demand it enjoyed late 90s would surely be rekindled. Whilst staying true to the Northern Soul bylawsmof presenting hard-to-find, stand-out motivational Soul tonthe dance-floor.

Treasure Mind

A Modern Soul Grail, that never surfaces..

This record is one of the reasons - why we make the pilgrimage to Great Yarmouth’s SOUL ESSENCE. It is the world’s finest event to hear precious Rare Soul of the very highest quality. This rare Texas “Grail” has been part of the fabric of this gathering for too many years to count, and this 45 after decades of tracking, diggin’ and dreaming is still as Rare, as Soul collecting gets.

Many, many times I’ve been imprisoned behind our record stall and my ears stand to attention, as the blend of guitar-licks and persuasive Sax take to the air. Quickly met by an urgent pleading vocal; wafting from the dancefloor into the fabeled record room, the squealing girls riding a bongo rhythm, that descends into your very being.. …then you know exactly why you have travelled so far, to a windswept East Coast where the rarest thing the holiday visitors encounter is a good restaurant or a parking space… but in contrast inside the bubbling Soul-Cauldron of Soul Essence, every play is RARE and motivating, with hardly a parking space on the dancefloor..

Not many places in Britain can consistently offer such high-class Soulful-dance records as the one before you today.. a Texas D.I.Y. private press offering Rare Soul Dance at its extreme best!

Eddie Holland

Merry-go-round / It Moves Me

The genesis of Motown, the impossibly Rare release # 2 for Tamla quoting the fabled beginnings at the 1719 GLADSTONE Street, Detroit.

A stunning recording which al most immediately went onto national distribution through United Artists # 172 which contactually triggered an end, to any further Tamla presses, after the meager first run using the “Gladstone Street” address, creating one of the label’s rarest of the rare 45s.

A Berry Gordy project showcasing his passion for the vocal-group sound, with the Rayber Voices laying down a carpet of harmony for Eddie most-magnificent vocal to cruise through.

Listen to the under-recorded vocal of Eddie Holland, we are sure you’ll agree he had one of the most dramatic voices ever to committed to vinyl. Who knows where this artist’s recording career would have would have taken him if he didn’t retire from in 1964 to concentrate of his extreme writing talents.

This is an historical disc for so many reasons, unveiling the start of the world’s greatest ever independent record label. By a member of a team that went on to be a household name not for his exquisite singing but for his part in the Hitsville machine that churned out “Hit” after “Hit” as song writer trio Holland - Dozier - Holland.

By far my personal favourite Motown voice, only surpassed by the sight of this 45 in unbeatable condition!

Temptations

My Girl / (talking 'bout) Nobody Bu My Baby

British Tamla Motown RED & WHITE lusting does not get any more appetizing than this vision of vinyl-beauty.

A Temptations anthem that elevated the group to the worldwide appreciation that has lasted to this very day. Smokey Robinson’s composition s still regarded as on of Motown’s finest creations ever.

Being sung by man a MOD boyfriend to his girl, in private moments, out of earshot of “The Gang”. A song that has fused more Soul Boy/Soul Girl love affairs than any other.

There is not a more gratifying way to own this timeless classic than the seriously elusive 1964 Red & White DEMO!
